REGISTRATION WILL CLOSE JANUARY 9TH.  MAXIMUM STUDENTS: 10.

Note that this is NOT a Moodle format course but a 12 to 15-week, lecture-style, course. Class meetings will be held online using Microsoft Teams; classes will run from 7-9 pm AST on Monday evenings beginning January 18th, 2021.

The student study kits will be mailed out before class starts. Each student will be assigned a tutor, either in their local area or through a video link. The local squadron or tutor MAY have a sextant for students to borrow; but if not, students will have to find their own to use for the course.

The instructor, Mannie Laufer (eelaufer@bellaliant.net), who has ample experience in this area of off-shore navigation, will be able to assist with selecting a sextant. ALL tutoring, too, will be through a video link.

Please note that each student must complete their sights before the final exam will be issued, mailed to students, and the exam must be completed and returned to the examiner within two weeks.

Enjoy! This course, B-6, (Celestial Navigation using sun only) together with the following course, B-7, (use of stars, planets, and moon in CN) make up a fabulous introduction to celestial navigation and voyage planning for the trans-ocean seafarer.
