History of Grand River Squadron (Kitchener-Waterloo and Cambridge)
In April, 1960 the Canadian Power Squadrons granted a Warrant establishing the Kitchener-Waterloo Power & Sail Squadron. Two years later Galt, which then became Cambridge followed. The squadrons became eligible in 2012 to fly their burgees with a gold stripe at the hoist, signifying 50 years of teaching safe boating in their communities.
In 2017 Cambridge merged with K-W and the squadron was renamed Grand River. A new burgee was designed to reflect the heritage of both squadrons, and includes the symbol of the river which runs through our communities and ties us.
