History

From the beginning

Frank Marshall took the CPS Boating Course by correspondence in 1984. He became a member of the Shuswap Squadron, and then Prince George Squadron within the next two years. With his teaching background and connections at the School District in Quesnel, he embarked upon teaching the first CPS Boating Course in Quesnel in the fall of 1986.

Some of the graduates of that class included Jack Barclay, Gary Daly, Tina Daly, Vagn Nielsen, Allan Sand and Joe Stoltz.

During the 1980’s, Frank offered a fall and spring course, through the Prince George Squadron. Many of his graduates joined that squadron and helped out proctoring these courses.

With the help of Gary Shannon and Bob Clayton from the Prince George Squadron, the Quesnel Power and Sail Squadron was founded in 1997. Founding members were: C. Carmichael, A. Castle, K. Clark, P. Curtis, G. Daly, G. Fouty, G. Inwood, S. Inwood, A. Kimpton, B. King, F. Marshall, G. Miller, L. Partridge, G. Pascuzzo, A. Sand, and M. Sarabyn. CPS National Headquarters signed the warrant March 8, 1997.
