1900 to 2100 hours (07:00PM to 09:00PM)
This course includes sections covering basic navigation skills (using a compass, reading and interpreting nautical charts, understanding the navigation aids – buoy system, and exploring the basic features and use of Electronic Navigation devices), legal responsibilities and safety measures, selecting and using lines and knots, anchoring, docking, understanding the impact of weather on boater safety, electrical hazards, collision avoidance rules, tides and currents, and other related topics. An optional final “multiple choice” exam is also available. Classes will be held Tuesday evenings 7-9pm beginning May 8, course length may vary depending on how quickly material is covered. Course material will be presented in person as well as streamed via Microsoft teams for students unable to attend in person.
