Squadron Classroom Course & Event Calendar
|Event Name||Maritime Radio|
Learn how to use a VHF Maritime Radio safely, correctly and courteously.
The course will run for four evenings, January 29 & 31 and February 5 & 7, 2019. Class starts at 7:00 pm but for the first night we ask students to please arrive at 6:30 pm.
The ROC(M) card is a Canadian federal government issued card required by law for you to operate a maritime VHF radio.
The purpose of the course is to provide you training on emergency radio procedures along with everyday operating techniques and hands-on use of the maritime band VHF radio.
With a passing mark, you will be issued a Restricted Operator's Certificate (M) including a DSC endorsement. DSC or digital selective calling is a feature on all new VHF radios that enhances the ability of rescue personnel to locate you and provide assistance in an emergency. It is important to understand this technology and to know how to use it.
If you received your ROC(M) card before the new Digital Selective Calling (DSC) was introduced, then you are encouraged to return and get your DSC endorsement for your ROC(M) card by attending this short course.
Please register below. If you have any questions or difficulty in registering please email firstname.lastname@example.org
Enrolment is restricted to 12 students due to the hands-on nature of the course.
