Welcome to the St. Thomas Power & Sail Squadron
Learning here gives you a lifetime of fun and safe boating

The St. Thomas Power and Sail Squadron has been at the forefront of safe boating education programs and activities for boaters in Elgin County for more than 50 years (our 50th anniversary was in 2010!).

We are a unit of Canadian Power and Sail Squadrons (CPS) which is a nationwide organization of recreational boating enthusiasts.

Since 1938, the skilled volunteers with CPS have enjoyed teaching all types of boaters a variety of courses and seminars aimed at increasing their awareness and knowledge of safe boating.

We also offer accredited seminars and/or exams for those interested in obtaining their Maritime Radio Operator Certificate and Pleasure Craft Operator Card (sometimes referred to as radio and boat operator licenses). These certifications are required to operate a marine radio on your boat and, since September 15, 2009, to operate any size of motorized boat.

This web site is intended to provide up-to-date Squadron information to our members, friends and the general public who may be looking to:

· Improve their boating knowledge,

· Attend a coming event, or

· Join the Squadron.

St. Thomas Power and Sail Squadron provides training classes from October to April at St. Joseph’s High School off Fairview Avenue in St. Thomas.

With the rules on the water changing, it's more important than ever before to ensure that you are up to date on current regulations, safety procedures and equipment requirements for both power and sail boats.
